Erica Hawkes
Erica Hawkes was born and raised in Northern BC. She studied design at the Colorado Institute of Art in Denver, Colorado and later earned her degree in design at VCC in Vancouver BC.
Over the years, Erica has had the opportunity to work in a variety of mediums including: graphite, acrylic, watercolor, India ink, and oil. She has worked as an illustrator, portrait artist, teacher and photographer.
Hawkes is an emerging Canadian artist working in a style she calls Nouveau 7; she borrows elements from the ground-breaking Group of Seven in Canada as well as the beautiful flowing lines of Art Nouveau movement at the turn of the century.
Artist Statement
“I love everything about art, from taking photographs for future works, to the sketching and final laying down of paint.
To create something beautiful is always my aim. I know I will always explore as I develop in my career as an artist; there is always something new to learn!”
